PROBLEMS WITH THE OEM BREECH SCREW?

Factual Observations regarding the OEM breech screw:
1. It strips easily.
We have stainless steel breech screws that are flat head driven that do not strip.

2. The required wrench is an odd tiny size (.050")
We have stainless steel breech screws that are flat head driven that do not have the .050" hex head.

3. It allows for smooth loading pretty well on the standard OEM plastic breeches that come with the 13xx and 22xx pistols. GOOD JOB CROSMAN!

4. But with a Crosman steel breech, the breech does not fit the screw divot / hole well at all. It is not ideal and it trips up pellets being pushed into the barrel with the handle/probe. NOT SO GOOD JOB CROSMAN!

If you have a Crosman steel breech and are experiencing this loading problem, the easiest way to fix it is to get some flat waxed dental floss to wrap a round or three below the head that will make a nice flexible shim so that you can get it just right. It might take a couple of tries just to get the number of wraps you need perfect, but with a little time... and an even smaller amount of extremely inexpensive floss you will succeed!

Note that there are some folks making tiny little washers so as to stack the perfect number beneath the head to get it just right. So they do the exact same thing as this floss hack does. Both work. Floss is cheaper (especially if you already have some).

Lastly, some people report using wax to fill the hole and shape the trough. That would be my second choice if there were a world-wide floss shortage.

If you are about to purchase a metal breech and want to avoid this entirely, just know that all of our ambidextrous blued steel, brass and stainless steel breeches that we make come with their very own Phillips head stainless breech screw that we made out breeches to fit exactly right! Also note that these breeches we make STILL ALLOW YOU TO USE THE STANDARD REAR SIGHT (as opposed to the Crosman breech later dovetail slot pretty much forcing you to purchase the expensive Williams LPA MIM rear sight).

"Jiggly Pump Arm" ? I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN

"Jiggly pump arm" is likely not a good description of the problem. I would bet that the pump arm itself is firmly secure to the lever assemble, but that the lever assembly is what has unwanted side to side movement that makes you call it "jiggly". If that is the case, maybe we can improve that situation.

The way to correct that is to place the right number of the right size washers between the two halves of the lever's "knee" (where either the banned-in-our-shop OEM roll pin may still be in use... or maybe you have already upgraded to the stainless hardened roll pin replacer we make).

If you make it too tight (too thick of washer(s), then you will cause friction and wear. If too loose then you have wasted your time. So just "barely or almost snug" is the Goldilocks equivalent of "just right" in this case.

The washer would have to have an inside hole diameter such that it would slide onto the 3/16" roll pin replacer... then the outside diameter could be in the 3/8" range.
